Lee Ufan '70s Ⅱ
2015.04.06 mon. - 04.22 wed.
Gallery Collection Lee Ufan ’70s Ⅱ
Takeda Art Co. is delighted to present the gallery collection
exhibition “Lee Ufan ’70s “, the same as last year.
Lee Ufan’s forthright and innocent “Points” and “Lines”.
The reiterated lines deviating from each other on the milky-white canvas.
Points-as if they deny even one simple stroke of a brush as an expression.
The tense atmosphere on his work is completed after minimizing these
elements to the utmost limit.
In the last exhibition, we presented Lee’s “Blue and White” works with
cool beauty just like blue and white Bunwon porcelain of the Yi
Dynasty Korea.
This time, in addition to “Blue and White” works, we will show
“Scarlet” and “Bright copper red” works of Points, and Lines.
There is no color more splendid than “red” on the Yi Dynasty’s porcelain.
What state of mind was the artist himself in to use rare red on his works?
“Red” works give us fresh and vivid impressions as well as “Blue”
series, or stronger than them.
This might be the effect brought out by the marriage of color with light.
We hope you will enjoy Lee’s beautiful and clarified works, both
points in smooth order and good graceful strokes free from any
hesitation.
