Minimalism and Monochrome Exhibition

Date: 22nd. October Mon. − 9th November Fri. 2012
Time: 11:00-18:00 (closed on Sundays and national holiday)

Takeda Art Co. is pleased to announce our exhibition titled “Minimalism and Monochrome”. We present 20 works by Donald Judd as a minimalist, Lee U-Fan and Kishio Suga as artists of Mono-ha (Mono school).

By a curious coincidence, Mono-ha in Japan, Minimal in America, Arte Povera in Italy started to make active around the same time between 1960’s and 1970’s. Not only cold impression as if the art works push viewers off, but also simple beauty exist in Minimalism.

The Minimalists have common things in some ways. They deny depicting in the pictorial ways. They abandon colorful expressions and show materials themselves. In other words, they present “mono” or materials as they are in artistic expressions.

Takeda Art Co. hopes you will enjoy the simple and beautiful works, which are composed with the consistent and stable concepts, at our exhibition.
